Rick Colt, FBCI

Mr. Colt is the founder of Business Continuity Consultants International and is certified as a Fellow of the Business Continuity Institute. He has over 30 years of consulting experience in developing business continuity, information security, physical security, and corporate awareness and training programs. He has developed, scheduled and managed large-scale BCP projects for corporate and government clients, which included Risk Analyses, Business Impact Analyses, Recovery Strategies Selection and Implementation, Plan Development and Plan Exercises. He was instrumental in the design of Strohl Systems’ BIA Professional software product.

He graduated from the United States Air Force Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics.

Bill Adney, MBCP

Mr. Adney has over 38 years of experience in data processing/business continuity and has successfully completed over 80 major projects for business impact analysis, recovery strategies, disaster recovery/business continuity plans/tests, and information security. He has managed or made major contributions to successful projects in a wide variety of business sectors including financial (with nine satisfactory FDIC, OCC or NCUA federal examinations), heathcare (including HIPPA compliance), aerospace, retail, and manufacturing. He successfully managed the completion 77 BIAs and 98 BCPs with exercises as a contract consultant for a major financial services company. He currently holds certifications as a Master Business Continuity Professional (MBCP) and a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP). Mr. Adney has also published eleven books and over 300 magazine articles on business continuity and personal computers.

He graduated from Purdue University with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and also has an M.B.A. from West Coast University

Richard Fairlamb, MBCP, FBCI

Mr. Fairlamb has developed practical, viable Vital Asset Protection and Security Programs for Client companies in all business sectors for 25 years. His methods ensure that Client’s time-sensitive business processes continue operating –– or are capable of timely resumption to acceptable levels of operations –– in case a disaster event affects the company’s facilities or business processes. He is a Master Business Continuity Professionals (MBCP), and also a Fellow of the Business Continuity Institute. He has advised Clients in the banking, financial services, call center, health services, manufacturing, local and long distance telecommunications, oil, and minerals processing, transportation, aviation, health products, and architectural/engineering –– most business sectors.

He graduated at the United States Air Force Academy, and has a Master of Science Degree in Business Administration (Finance) from the Boston University.

Larry Herriott, MBCP, MBCI

Larry is a self-confessed business continuity zealot with over 20 years in business continuity, disaster recovery, and crisis management planning. Larry is a Master Business Continuity Professional (MBCP), and Member of the Business Continuity Institute. He has performed business continuity and disaster recovery consulting projects for clients in the leasing, manufacturing, high technology, pharmacy, banking, insurance and financial industries. Previously, Larry was the Business Continuity Program Manager for a major international company where his responsibilities included business continuity for corporate and subsidiaries in the U. S., the U.K., and Canada. As a senior manager with Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC), Larry served a major aerospace company client as Business Continuity Program Manager.

Larry holds a BBA from Southern Methodist University where he was granted membership in Beta Gamma Sigma (national business honor society).

Jim Northup

Mr. Northup is the principal and founder of Northup Consulting Services. Prior to establishing Northup Consulting, he spent 30 years with IBM where he held various technical, marketing, and management positions.

As the principal of NCS since 1993, he has successfully implemented full BCP Initiatives for clients in the insurance, utilities, banking, credit union, publishing, distribution, manufacturing, electronic information, and pharmaceutical industries. These initiatives have produced over 1200 Business Continuity Plans. He has personally developed and conducted over 40 multiple team exercise throughout North America, South America and Europe for his major clients. He is the architect of the innovative and highly successful Facilitated Recovery Plan Development Methodology based on the training and coaching of client-assigned Plan Development Coordinators.

He attended George Washington University and is a graduate of the IBM Systems Research Institute.

Linda Pahkim, CBCP

Ms. Pahkim has over 10 years consulting experience in Emergency Management/Response, Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery.  She has worked with City, County, State, and Federal levels of Government and all levels of management with industry leaders in private sector.  She has experience in exercises utilizing NIMS/SEMS protocol involving multiple cities, counties, and states with scenarios involving Terrorism, Weapons of Mass Destruction, school shootings, earthquakes, HAZMAT spills, floods, and bio-terrorism.  She is a Certified Business Continuity Professional and a member of the Disaster Recovery Institute’s Education Committee and the Business Recovery Managers Association.

She graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelor of Science degree. 


Ms. Smallwood has been in the IT and business continuity industry for over 25 years.  She has worked in the manufacturing, insurance, transportation, banking, utility, telecommunications, and agricultural industries. She served on the DRJ Editorial Advisory Board from 2006 – 2010 and has served on the technical working group for the ASIS SPC 2009:1 standard.  She also conducts BS25999 and ISO 27001 audits in addition to the business continuity, disaster recovery, crisis management work she has done for many clients.

She has a Masters Degree in Telecommunications Management and Information Management from Washington University.


John Small, CBCP, CBCLA

Mr. Small has held Business Continuity positions with major financial organizations.  His unique experience and perspective were achieved by working in a combination of business functions including Business Continuity, Emergency Response, Information Security, Process Analysis and Improvement, Management Information Systems, and Financial Control.  

He has extensive experience in developing Business Continuity Plans, conducting Business Impact Analyses and testing Recovery Plans.  His audit activities include internal pre-audits and interfacing with a wide variety of auditors from the Securities and Exchange Commission, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, and Office of Thrift Supervision.

He graduated from the University of Tulsa and has a Master of Science Degree in Management and Administrative Sciences from the University of Texas at Dallas.


Dan Hendrix, LCSE

Mr. Hendrix has been a Business Continuity practitioner for twenty-two years founding Hendrix Enterprises of Tampa in 1987. He possesses an exceptional talent for automating Business Continuity Plans in the corporate-wide environment. His primary focus is in the business function environment, with special attention to the integration of crisis management, facility recovery, emergency response, and information technology required to support successful business function recovery. His software expertise includes LDRPS, Crystal Reports, PreCovery, and Revolution. In addition, Mr. Hendrix has extensive experience in the migration and integration of data from the Microsoft Office, Corel WordPerfect and Lotus suite environments into the LDRPS product line.

Marty McGill

Mr. McGill has amassed 28 years of professional experience in Engineering, Information Technology, Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity and Management. He has comprehensive knowledge in Disaster Recovery applications including BIA Professional, LDRPS, PreCovery and Paragon. He is skilled in business process analysis, LAN/WAN design, and design of scalable, bundled data/telephony solutions. When not involved with clients, Marty thrives in the Northwestern corner of Montana, enjoying adult ice hockey and coaching children’s ice hockey, skiing, golf and idyllic moments, standing in the middle of a river, fly-rod in hand. Marty is a veteran who proudly served our nation in both the Marine Corps and the United States Navy.
